Professional Experience
Valerie joined the litigation group at Becker & Poliakoff in December 2010. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on bankruptcy-related litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Valerie’s legal experience included positions as a paralegal at Dinkes and Schwitzer and Gratt & Associates, as well as a summer associate position at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, where she predominately worked in the firm’s Corporate and Securities Group.
While attending St. John’s University School of Law, she served as a federal judicial intern to the Honorable Joanna Seybert in the Eastern District of New York and state court intern to the Honorable Conrad Singer in Nassau Family Court. She also worked as a child advocate for the Child Advocacy Clinic at St. John’s University, representing children in child protective proceedings.
Honors
Valerie served as a Senior Staff member of the American Institute Bankruptcy Law Review. She was also member of the Dean’s List, a recipient of the Law Institutional Merit Award and received CALI Awards of Excellence in Civil Procedure, Externship Seminar, Legal Writing Seminar, and Trusts and Estates for achieving the highest grade in each class.
